Diem scratches open the photographs

Photos of boys fishing at sea off the coast of Florida. Posed pictures? Perhaps.
Diem scratches open the photographs, reveals the glow of love beneath the skin, the blood of a hidden life, the darkness of death. His inexhaustible energy touched Hemingway’s. The crackling spark fills the space between them. Followed again by emptiness. Hemingway, shown in pictures with shot lions, has been looking for a situation in which it might happen all his life; it being ‘to write one true sentence’, which says it all. Unlike Hemingway Diem has not lost the battle yet. He does not consider the blood-covered dying animal any less important than the hunter. He keeps on painting and attacks himself with paints, not with bullets. He uses the advantage of images over words. Behind every image lies yet another, and Diem takes you along on his voyage.
